A better process would be: search by keyword, then narrow by subforum, date range, solved status, author and whether the term appears in the title or body. Saving that filter set would also help people who revisit the same topics.
The limitation is that search only works well if posts are labelled consistently, so it pairs best with simple thread tags or a “mark as solved” option. Without that, even a stronger search tool can still surface a lot of noise. If only one change is possible, I would still start with search because it improves both new questions and older content.
